Hi, I’m Isabel King, Founder and CEO of Amulet SafeTech.
My journey into entrepreneurship began from a deeply personal place. Like many women, I have experienced moments where I felt vulnerable, uncertain, or caught off guard in situations that didn’t feel safe. That feeling of wishing I had something to help me take control is what led me to create Amulet.
As a student at the University of Texas at Austin, I have always been passionate about building solutions that solve real-world problems. That mindset inspired me to create Amulet, a discreet and wearable safety device designed to help women feel confident, secure, and prepared in their everyday lives. Amulet combines smart technology with thoughtful design to make personal safety feel accessible and empowering.
Throughout this journey, I have been fortunate to be part of several supportive communities on campus. I was selected for the KS WELI FoundHER Program, which connects women entrepreneurs with mentorship, resources, and a strong network of like-minded changemakers. I also placed second in the KS WELI pitch competition, which gave me the confidence and validation to keep building.
This summer, I was accepted into UT Austin’s SEAL program, a competitive summer accelerator that supports student startups in reaching their next major milestone. Through SEAL, I worked closely with experienced mentors, industry leaders, and a collaborative cohort of fellow founders. The program helped me challenge my assumptions, refine my strategy, and grow as both a leader and a problem solver.
Each of these experiences has shaped Amulet into what it is today. More than just a product, Amulet is a commitment to reimagining what safety can look and feel like. My goal is to give people a sense of control, confidence, and calm in moments where they need it most.

Why Amulet Matters
Women face unique challenges when it comes to personal safety. According to statistics, one in three women has experienced some form of physical or sexual violence in their lifetime. In many situations, the natural “freeze” response can leave a person feeling trapped or paralyzed, unsure of how to act. This is where Amulet comes in.
By pressing a hidden button embedded in elegant jewelry, Amulet triggers a fake phone call, providing an easy escape from awkward or dangerous situations. If the call goes unanswered, our app sends a signal to emergency contacts with your location, ensuring that help is on the way.
With Amulet, you never have to compromise on your safety—or your style.

Inspired By
The name "Amulet" draws from the universal tradition of protective charms, used in cultures around the world to ward off evil and provide safety. Inspired by the Japanese omamori, as well as similar protective amulets found across various cultures, our design blends ancient symbolism with modern technology.
From ancient Egypt to Western and Eastern traditions, amulets have been worn or carried to offer protection, bring good fortune, and safeguard against harm. Just as these powerful symbols of defense have been trusted for centuries, Amulet provides real-world protection, empowering women to feel secure and safe. It’s a modern take on a timeless idea as a shield against danger.
